Software Pioneering is a blog about and for the adventurous and exploratory side of software development. It's supposed to add flavor to the many times cautious and calculating approach of software engineering.
This is not a personal blog, it will stay focused on technology. My personality and background will most likely reflect what's posted, though, so a few things about me might be worth mentioning:

About the author:
In my past years in the game industry I mostly worked with level and game design and production, but I've always been curious about the other branches of game development, and taken every opportunity to learn a bit about their trade.
Eventually I started programming which opened up a whole new world in terms of creativity. From being limited to working inside the confines others had built there was all of a sudden no limitations on what could be created.
It's the feeling of being able to create anything out of nothing that drives me in every project and encourages me to learn new things. To me programming is akin to magic, just real magic.

I'm also an advocate for jMonkeyEngine, the author of the jMonkeyEngine 3.0 Cookbook as well as the founder and one of the developers of the Oculus Rift plugin for jMonkeyEngine.
